India made history by winning ODI series against Australia on their own soil. Obviously, It was the team effort which help India in betting host team in test as well as ODI series but it will difficult for India to win the ODI series without the help of crucial innings of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni has started 2019 on the best note possible by bagging the Man of the Series award in India vs Australia ODI series.
MS Dhoni remains one of the most intelligent guys in the cricketing world.The 3rd ODI of the tour in Melbourne saw a great example of Dhoni's cricketing genius as he took a download of the hosts' bowling strategy in the end overs to prepare himself accordingly. A fine example of how street smart he is was witnessed at the start of the 47th over of the run-chase. A Jhye Richardson was to bowl the over while Dhoni and Jadhav took a brief drink break right before the bowler was to start. Realising the opportunity to enlighten himself with the host strategy for the last three overs, MSD went straight to the umpire and had a look at the piece of paper he was holding to find out who is left to bowl how many overs.
While skipper Virat Kohli and all-rounder Kedar Jadhav played their role in the team's trick chase of 231 runs, it was Dhoni who anchored the innings to ensure the team victory. Dhoni emerged as the top-scoring batsman for India, scoring 193 runs in 3-match series.
