Bhopal: People are facing problems due to the water crisis in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh. Water supply is being made in urban areas every third day, but situation in the rural areas is getting worse. The condition is that people in the rural areas are now also getting a drop of water. Most tube wells and handpumps have been closed and people have to wander in search of several km of water. In Daulatpura village adjacent to the district headquarters, people are forced to drink contaminated water of slate pencil mines.

People from Daulatpura village, just 2 km away from Mandsaur city, have been forced to drink contaminated water for drinking water in deep mines of slate pencils. Any one mistake can be fatal on the deep dark paths of these mines, filled with waste and polluted water, but due to the water crisis, the residents here are compelled to drink contaminated water of these mines.

Raju Bai, resident of Daulatpura, says that he has to be dependent on these mines of slate pencil for drinking water. They take the risk like this every day and fill the water from the quarries. In their absence, their children take water from these mines. They want the government to listen to them and solve their problem. He also says that due to the water crisis, there are many problems in the marriage of the youth of the village too.
