Hamanikund Barrage Water Level reduced, Flood like threat averted

Yamunanagar: The water level in the Hamanikund barrage in Haryana has come down. The Yamuna river has come down from the danger mark. At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, there is only 50 thousand cusecs of water left at the Hamanikund barrage. So, it is now believed that the threat of possible floods in Delhi has been averted. Since the release of water from the Hatini Kund, the river Yamuna in Delhi was flowing above the warning mark.

It may be mentioned that the problem of Delhiites had increased after the release of water from the Hatnikund barrage. Water level of River Yamuna at danger level 204. Increased from 5 meters to 205. It had reached 94 meters. As a precautionary measure, the movement of trains from Yamuna Bridge has been stopped. As of Monday evening, 10,000 people had been evacuated from low lying areas due to flood threat.

In Delhi, preparations have been made by the administrative authorities to ensure that the people do not suffer much damage due to floods. Though Delhiites have now breathed a sigh of relief as the water level of the Yamuna river is receding gradually and the threat of possible floods in the capital seems to be averted, officials in Delhi have been asked to be prepared to deal with any situation.
