Latur: Latur district of Maharashtra received heavy rain on Tuesday. This led to rainwater logging in low lying areas and villages along the river. After that, NDRF teams, helicopters and boats had to be hired to save people. In the last 2 days, 13 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, NDRF rescued 560 people in the state.

An official informed that 47 people were rescued from Sarasa village on the banks of the Manjara river through the boat. He said three persons were rescued safely from the Dighol Deshmukh area in Renapur. State Disaster Management Officer Sakeb Usmani said that three employees of the state irrigation department were trapped in the barrage of Ghansargaon village. An NDRF team as well as a helicopter have been deployed in the rescue operation to save them.

According to officials, 6 out of 10 tehsils of Latur received heavy rain. This led to flood-like situations in rivers and drains. In such a situation, the administration had to open 18 gates of Manjara Dam at Dhanegaon in Keh tehsil and release 70,845.30 cusecs of water. However, 12 gates of Manzara dam were closed on Wednesday.
