Wayanad Landslide Updates: Rescue operations are set to continue today, August 1, as the death toll from the devastating landslides in the Chooral Mala and Mundakkai areas near Meppadi in Wayanad district, Kerala, has surpassed 277.

Teams from the Army, Defence Security Corps (DSC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the Forest and Fire and Rescue Service are working tirelessly, sifting through the debris in the affected areas. Jio Enhances Network Capacity
In response to the communication demands following the Wayanad landslide, Reliance Jio has increased its network capacity. At the request of state disaster management authorities, Jio has also installed an additional dedicated tower to ensure reliable connectivity in the affected area, providing crucial support during this crisis.

Landslide Risk in Kerala
A report by the National Centre for Earth Sciences reveals that 1,848 square kilometers of Kerala, representing 4.71% of the state's land area, is highly prone to landslides. Additionally, 3,759 square kilometers, or 9.77%, is considered to have a lower risk of landslides.
