Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that now all the 39,073 villages in Bihar have come under electricity. He said that every house in the state will be given free electricity connection by the end of next year. Nitish Kumar was addressing the function organized by the State Electricity Department here, where all the 39,073 villages of the state were electrified and laid the foundation stone for the cost of Rs.3,030.52 crore power projects.

This electric affair was included in the decision with the good governance of Kumar. The Chief Minister said, "We have set a very long distance since coming to power in the year 2005. At that time small towns and villages had given up hope of getting power and even in state capital Patna, there was not much hope of improving the power situation.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said on several occasions that improvement in power situation in Bihar is the top priority of his government. The Chief Minister said it was not easy to get electricity in all the villages of the state. It was much harder than road construction, but we are very happy to be able to get electricity in all the villages by the end of 2017. We are confident that we will achieve the goal of providing free electricity connection to all the households of the state by December 31, 2018.
