Lucknow: In Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, about 15,000 Dalits have threatened to leave Hinduism and accept Buddhism. Allegedly, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, these Dalits had installed his idol on someone else's land, on whose complaint the local police and administration got the illegally placed statue removed in the night. The matter is of Triveni Maidan of Sumerpur town.

In protest against this action of the administration, the Dalits protested by blocking the national highway for 10 hours. After this demonstration, the police returned the statue to the Dalits, but did not allow it to be installed at the disputed place. Not only this, the police also registered an FIR against the people who blocked the national highway, due to which thousands of Dalits have threatened to convert. This announcement of Dalits has put the district administration in trouble.

Even after the announcement of such large number of conversions, the district administration and police officers are not ready to say anything. In fact, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was established by making a platform in Triveni Maidan. Regarding where this idol was installed, a person named Amar Singh claimed that it was his land and had given a complaint to the police station. After which the police had removed the idol, now the Dalit society is demanding to install that statue there, on the land of another.
