Dubai: Ricky Ponting, head coach of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC), says he is happy to be in the squad for the second leg of IPL 2021 in Dubai, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday. Ponting said the players have shown tremendous momentum during the pre-season camp.

In a Delhi Capitals release, Ponting said, "I had been waiting for four months to return to the Delhi Capital Camp. I have such a good time when I work with the team and this is a better time in my calendar year. I am keeping a close watch on what is happening. I am talking to the coaching staff here and they have done a much better job so far (in pre-season camp).'' Ponting further said that the team's performance in the first leg of the IPL 2021 season does not matter and the team will have to perform well once again.

Ricky Ponting said, 'It doesn't matter what we've done in the first leg of the season. Four months have passed since we played some really good cricket, so we have to really start back. We have to move forward and build ourselves. Our performance in the first leg of the tournament was because of how well we played and how hard we worked, but I don't think we have played our best cricket yet.''
