India has defeated Australia by three wickets to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rahane led team breached the Gabba fortress as it has chased down 327 to script history. With this victory, India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that he was glad to have played such high-quality cricket.
Ashwin took to Twitter and wrote, "Good evening from Gabba!! I am sorry I couldn't play here but thanks for hosting us and playing some hard cricket during these tough times. We will remember this series forever! @tdpaine36 @CricketAus." He also tagged Australia skipper Tim Pain in the tweet. Ashwin missed out at The Gabba as he complained of back spasms on the last day of the third Test. He has shown amazing grit during the third Test at Sydney to help India walk away with a draw.
On Tuesday, Australia's fortress The Gabba was finally breached. It took 32 years and two months, but young injury-ravaged young Indian team beat Australia by three wickets against all odds in the final Test to take the series 2-1. India's memorable victory has also ensured they toppled Australia in the ICC Test Team Rankings to claim the second spot.
