New Delhi: Ahead of 26 January, Delhi Police has arrested a 36-year-old notorious arms smuggler of Kapil Sangwan gang with a huge cache of weapons after an encounter in Rohini Sector-35 area of ​​the capital late on Monday night. The arrested accused has been identified as Shakeel alias Sherni, a resident of Jahangir Puri. Police say that a dozen rounds were fired from both sides.

According to DCP Outer North Brijendra Yadav, during the arrest, 13 state-of-the-art pistols and a bag filled with 38 different live cartridges were found from the accused Shakeel. The DCP said that the Delhi Police, acting on the basis of intelligence inputs, had laid a trap near Rohini Sector-35 UER-II, in which the accused was stopped when he was coming towards Rohini Sector 29 on a bike. .

Police officer said that constable Pradeep was informed by an informer regarding the movement of Kapil Sangwan Nandu and Jyoti Baba gang and Shakeel alias Sherni, a notorious arms smuggler of Sisodia gang. Based on a tip-off, a trap was laid near UER-II. When the police stopped the accused Shakeel, who was coming on a motorcycle, near Sector-35, he started firing on seeing the police, after which the police also retaliated and caught the accused.
