New Delhi: Two-thirds of the country got affected due to heat stroke. The weather department has issued a red alert. People have been instructed to stay in homes. Saturday was the hottest day of this season. The meteorological Department said, the temperature has reached 50.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday in Churu in Rajasthan. It is the second highest temperature in 63 years. In 1956, the temperture in Alwar in Rajasthan was 50.6 degrees. In 2016, the highest ever temperature recorded in Rajasthan's Phalodi was 51 degree Celsius.

As per information received from sources, 50 degree temperature was also recorded at Ramgarh in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. 8 in the world's 15 hottest places, India remained the same. Rajasthan's Ganganagar was the second warmest place in the country with 49.6 degrees. The mercury 49.6 degrees for the second consecutive day here. The temperature in Delhi was 46.6 degrees. It is 6 degrees more than normal.

The heat wave could continue in the first week of June. This is attributed to delayed monsoon and less rain in pre-monsoon season. Meteorological scientists say the mercury was 2 to 5 degrees higher than normal since January this year.
