Odisha to witness heavy rainfall in next 72 hours

Bhubaneswar: The troubles of Odisha, which is already reeling under floods, may increase further. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in Odisha in the next 72 hours. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclone is expected to hit between 1.5 to 4.5 km off the Odisha coast bordering the north-west bay of Bengal, causing heavy rain in the state.

According to the department, strong winds are expected to move at a speed of 45-55 km per hour in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal today. If this happens, there may be heavy rains in many parts of Odisha. A few days ago, heavy rains and storms wreaked havoc in Odisha. The Central Government has provided financial assistance of Rs 3338.22 crore to Odisha to meet the damage caused by Cyclone Fanni in the state.

The Centre had earlier given Rs 340 crore to deal with the damage caused by cyclone fani. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself visited Odisha and announced an assistance of 1,000 crore rupees. Cyclone Fani hit the site part of Puri district on May 3. The impact caused massive devastation in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar as well as other coastal districts.
