Weather Department issues warning of rain in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Several areas have been submerged due to torrential rains in Andhra Pradesh. According to the Met department, heavy rain is expected today. According to the Met department, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Nellore, and Chittoor districts today.

Light to moderate rainfall may occur at various places in Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram, Prakasam, Kadapa, Anantapur, and Kurnool districts. The department says it is monitoring the situation. The Andhra Pradesh government is carrying 8 high-speed boats and life-saving jackets to neighbouring Telangana for rescue and relief operations in the rain-hit Hyderabad city. According to a statement issued by the government, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response Force personnel are also being sent to the neighboring diocese. Hyderabad has recorded more than 43 cm of rain and many areas are still flooded.

Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 to every house affected by floods in and around Hyderabad. He has also announced that all households completely damaged in rain and floods will be given Rs 1 lakh and each of those living in partially damaged houses will be given Rs 50,000.
