Thiruvananthapuram: The weather in the country is now changing and monsoon activities have started. South India has been witnessing a steady change in weather over the past few days. Meanwhile, the Met department has issued an alert for heavy rains in Kerala on May 14 and 15. The local administration has issued a red alert for three districts of the state on May 14 and 5 districts on May 15.

According to the Met department, the first cyclonic storm of 2021 will hit the west coast of the country by Sunday. Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat are likely to be affected by the storm. Due to this, heavy rain may occur in many areas including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra between May 14 and 16. According to the report, the storm is likely to pass through Kutch region on May 20 and move towards South Pakistan. If this happens, it will reach the coastal areas of Gujarat by May 17 or 18.

According to met department, heavy rain is likely to occur under the influence of low pressure area over Arabian Sea. State CM Pinarayi Vijan has asked officials and people to follow the guidelines of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). CM Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted, ''Red alert! May 14, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, May 1 Mallapuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasargod. Follow the directions of kerala SDMA".
