New Delhi: Heavy rains in different parts of the country on Monday have severely affected people. 7 people have lost their lives due to drowning in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, forecasting, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that northwestern India, including the western Himalayan region, may receive heavy rains by 20 August.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Uttarakhand today. Along with this, instructions have been issued to many states about the possibility of floods and landslides. According to this, the water level in the rivers of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh has been predicted to increase. According to the department, there is a possibility of cloudburst in some mountainous districts. Therefore, warnings have been issued in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu- Kashmir.

Due to heavy rains in Delhi on Monday, people have got relief from the humidity and heat. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted rains in the metropolis for the next few days. Kuldeep Srivastava, president of the Meteorological Department's regional forecast center, said that the monsoon has once again moved northwards and will be around Delhi for the next three days. Meanwhile, heavy rains may also occur once or twice.
