New Delhi: With rain and snowfall in hilly areas, the weather has also taken a turn toward north India. With the onset of the monsoon, the feeling of pinkish chill has started all over India. The weather is changing rapidly in the cities of the national capital, Delhi and NCR. According to the MET department, Delhi-NCR may receive light to moderate rainfall today (Sunday) meaning October 24.

As per the MET department forecast, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on October 24. Wind speed of 30-40 kmph is also expected in these areas. The MET department has also issued a yellow alert for rain in the national capital. Delhi is likely to have a high temperature of 31 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is likely to be 18-19 degrees Celsius. IMD predicted light rain or drizzle late in the evening amid cloudy conditions throughout the day. Cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of north India including Delhi.

With this, heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh has increased the cold wave conditions. Srinagar has broken the record for the coldest day in October. The weather in the mountains has taken such a turn that heavy snowfall has started even before November. In Kashmir, this rain and snowfall have caused heavy damage to crops. Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam, Aharbal are covered with white sheets of snow. The Mughal Road in the Poonch district has been closed for vehicles due to heavy snowfall.
