New Delhi: Citizens who have been facing heavy air pollution in the NCR region for nearly two weeks have received some relief today. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research, there has been a lot of improvement in air quality on Saturday morning with the fall in AQI in Delhi. Air quality (satisfactory) was filed in most areas of the national capital including Delhi University, Pusa Road, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, IIT Delhi, Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal-3). The AQIs in these areas were 95, 90, 85, 92, 83, 93 and 90 respectively.
AQI between the range of 51 and 100 is considered 'satisfactory' or 'very good', 101-200 is 'moderate', 201-300 falls in the 'bad' category while 300-400 is considered 'very poor' goes. Delhi's AQI has been even higher than this, while the mid-401-500 level falls in the 'dangerous' category. On Saturday, the entire NCR region is near the AQI 200 which is much better than the previous days.
There has been a lot of improvement in the air quality and on Saturday morning the air has come to the 'satisfactory' category. Due to strong winds and year in the surrounding areas, the amount of pollutants in the air has decreased. The speed of the winds moving near the ground was also high, which has improved pollution. AQI is forecast to remain in the moderate to poor category for the next two days. Strong winds may continue till 30 November.
