The MET department has warned of heavy rain in Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala and Andhra Pradesh during the next five days. In fact, the Met department says that southern peninsular India and Maharashtra are likely to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall during the next 5 days. This is believed to be due to an area of cyclonic winds over the East Central Arabian Sea near the south Maharashtra and Karnataka coast. Heavy rain is also likely to occur over Konkan and Goa, Maharashtra, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe during the coming 4-5 days. It is said that coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will also receive rain during October 10-12.

At the same time, in the coming three days, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall at most places with scattered rain and thunder (wind speed 50-60 kmph) with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunder (wind speed 40-50 kmph) at different places. The cyclonic circulation is said to move west-northwestwards towards south Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 4-5 days.

Light to moderate rainfall is said to occur over Maharashtra, Kerala and coastal Karnataka during the next 5 days and at many places over Tamil Nadu on 10th and 11th October 2021. At the same time, a low-pressure area over the North Andaman Sea is likely to be formed around 10th October 2021, which is likely to move west-northwestwards towards south Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 4-5 days.
