Weather Updates: IMD forecasts widespread rains over many parts of north, northeast India for 5 days

The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that several parts of north and northeast India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are likely to receive the highest rainfall in the coming five days. He said that there is a cyclonic storm over eastern UP and extends to the central troposphere level. As a result of these systems, IMD said that due to the next five days, the temperature in north-east and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim is likely to receive rainfall with a steep to a very steep drop.

It is likely to increase the intensity of rainfall in these areas from 11th August, due to strong southwest or southern winds from the Bay of Bengal, resulting in heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya from 11th to 13th August. IMD said Uttarakhand is likely to receive the highest rainfall in different areas. He also said that the same is expected in Himachal Pradesh on 12th and 13th August.

IMD also said that eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand are likely to receive the highest rainfall with thunderstorms in the next four to five days. He said heavy rainfall is also likely to occur in Jharkhand from 10th-13th August and in different parts of Ganga West Bengal due to 11th-13th August. Meanwhile, the Met department has predicted scattered to very heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to receive very heavy rainfall in the next five days, Tamil Nadu may receive the highest rainfall during the next five days and Kerala for the next three days, IMD said.
