TOP STOCKS TO BUY TODAY: Due to a negative trend in IT counters, equity benchmarks gave up some of their early gains and ended the day lower on the weekended  Friday, marking their third day of drop.

To end the day at 59,900.37, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 452.90 points, or 0.75 percent. It fell 683.36 points, or 1.13 percent, throughout the day to 59,669.91. The NSE Nifty ended at 17,859.45, down 132.70 points, or 0.74 percent.

The top laggards from the Sensex pack included Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, and Tata Motors. The winners included Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Nestle, ITC, and Larsen & Toubro.

Some Major Stocks in Spotlight: Ambuja Cements fell 0.92%, after  company has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary company in the name of 'Ambuja Resources' on 5 January 2023

Dabur India slipped 3.51%, after . The FMCG major on Friday announced that its India business is expected to report low to mid-single digit revenue growth.

Macrotech Developers declined 2.03% after  company said that it had achieved pre-sales of Rs 3,035 crore in Q3 FY23, thereby recording a growth of 16.3% on an Year-on-Year basis.

IIFL Finance slipped 1.69% after the company  said that it will open a public issue of NCDs) on 6 January 2023
Zydus Lifesciences were down 0.91% after it has launched Topiramate extended-release capsules in the US.

International Markets: Hong Kong's equities markets closed lower, while those in Seoul, Tokyo, and Shanghai finished higher. In mid-session trades, equity exchanges in Europe were trading with a mixed bag of sentiment. On Thursday, US markets had a lower closing price.

Crude Oil: Benchmark Brent crude for international oil prices increased 0.15 percent to USD 78.81 per barrel.
FPIs: According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs 1,449.45 crore on Thursday.
