WEF, Davos: PM Modi chaired round-table talks with top CEOs

Davos [Switzerland], Jan 23 (NT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a round-table conference with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of top global companies in Davos, ahead of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2018 on Monday.

PM chaired the meeting of around 120 members of the International Business Forum (IBF).

The Prime Minister will also host a dinner for global industry supremos from 18 nations later on.

Prime Minister Modi landed in Zurich earlier in the day and met President of Swiss Confederation Alain Berset ahead of proceeding to Davos for the forum.

From then on, he will address the plenary session of the forum on Tuesday.

The first Indian minister to be present at the WEF in more than two decades, Prime Minister Modi is being accompanied by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, among others.

The last call by an Indian Prime Minister to the WEF  summit was ex-Prime Minister H. Deve Gowda back in 1997.

The theme of this year's forum is- "Creating a shared future in a Fractured World". The forum intends to set a program to address political, economic and social challenges of modern times. (NT)
