Tax on the Soul
Peter the Great also imposed a tax on The Soul in 1718. It was to give to those who believed that they had something like a soul. They were taxed for not believing in religion. They are said to have been taxed for not having faith in religion. Peter the Great imposed the tax to raise huge sums of money needed to strengthen the Russian military. Tax on beards: In 1535, The Beard was taxed by The British Emperor Henry VIII. They also had beards. In 1698, Peter the Great, the ruler of Russia, also imposed a beard tax. In Russia, beard taxpayers then received a token that they had to carry it with them all the time. The token was of copper or silver and on the token it was written that the man had shaved.

In 1696 King William III of England and Wales imposed a tax on windows. At that time the condition of the king's treasury was crispy. Income Taxe was the only way to get money.  It became necessary to make public pay the income tax. The people there were unhappy with this decision of the government. They were calling it a threat to personal freedom.

In the ninth century, The Bachelor's Tax was imposed by the Roman Emperor Augustus. The aim was to promote marriage. Italian dictator Mussolini also imposed Bachelor Tax on unmarried men between the ages of 21 and 50 in 1924.
