Khargone: Threecriminals who transported parrots from Barwah forest division of Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh have been arrested. The criminals were carrying neem leaves in the bus by hiding the middle parrots. The forest department has arrested the bus driver, conductor and cleaner. According to the information received, the criminals were illegally transporting the parrots from Barwah forest division area, the forest department has registered a case against the three criminals under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 and arrested them. The criminals have transported parrots before.
Forest Range Officer of Barwah, D S Rathore said that the culprits who had kept parrots from Khandwa and who had landed in Indore have been identified and both the culprits will be arrested soon. After the illegal transportation of parrots came to light, the Forest Divisional Officer of Barwah, MB Shirsaiah and the Special Task Force of the Wildlife Wing at Indore have been informed. After getting the permission of the court, the parrots will be tested and released in the forest.
Officer D S Rathore said that based on a tip-off, a private passenger bus going from Khandwa to Indore was stopped at Kat kut phate and two large cages kept in the carrier were unloaded on top of the bus. About 150 parrots were being hidden under the neem leaves inside the cloth cage.
