Kolkata: In West Bengal, the death toll due to cyclone Amphan has increased to 85. In Kolkata, angry people protested against the administration's failure to normalize the situation even after three days and blocked traffic in various parts of the city. After the public life was severely affected due to the cyclone, all the officials of the administration are working to normalize the situation in different parts of the state.

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is likely to visit South 24 Parganas district affected by the cyclone Amphan on Saturday. Lakhs of people became homeless, many houses were destroyed, thousands of trees were uprooted and many areas were submerged following the devastation caused by cyclone Amphan in the state on Wednesday. Even though electricity and mobile services have been started in some areas of Kolkata and North and South 24 Parganas, many areas are still engulfed in darkness due to the dismantling of power poles and communication lines.

Since Friday night, people have been protesting and disrupting roads in various parts of Kolkata demanding restoration of electricity and water supply. The Chief of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Board of Administrators has assured that the situation will return to normal within a week as government officials are working relentlessly to improve the situation.
