Kolkata: A 9-year-old girl lost her life in a crude bomb blast in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. This blast took place in Abdul Hussain's house. Abdul is the maternal uncle of the deceased girl. The incident took place on Wednesday (16 November). According to the report, the girl had come to her maternal grandmother in Bachhora village. On Wednesday evening, while playing she picked up a bomb kept in the house. But, the bomb was released from her hand and it got blasted as soon as it fell down. As soon as the explosion took place, Abdul ran away leaving the house with his family. On the other hand, the girl injured in the blast was taken to a rural hospital, where she died.

According to the report, Abdul Hussain has been arrested by the police. Local people have told that Abdul is a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker. Meenakhan Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Aminul Islam has informed that 'The deceased has been identified as third-grade student Sohna Khatoon alias Jhuma. She was a resident of the Basanti area of ​​South 24 Parganas district. The student had come to her maternal uncle's house two days before the incident. Her friends Rahima Parveen and Anisha Khatoon, who was playing with her, were also injured in the blast.'

Police have told that 'The country made bomb was kept at the side of the carrom board in the house of Jhuma's maternal uncle Abdul Hussain. When the girl saw a ball-like object on the scaffolding, she tried to catch it. However, the bomb slipped from his hand and fell on the ground, and exploded.' According to the official, the local villagers had taken the girl to Minakhan Rural Hospital. Abdul had absconded with his family after the incident. However, he was caught on Thursday (17 November) morning. 

Police have told that 7 country-made bombs have also been recovered from Abdul's house. He was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Explosive Substances Act. His brother has also been arrested. According to the police, Abdul is a construction worker and also runs a grocery shop. Local people have informed that he is a worker of the ruling TMC. He also has an old criminal record. However, like every time TMC has denied this claim. TMC leader Azizul Ghazi says, 'The party has no connection with Abdul Hussain.'
