KOLKATA: In response to increases in Omicron cases globally and in India, the West Bengal government wrote to the Union civil aviation ministry on Thursday, announcing its decision to temporarily suspend direct flights between Kolkata and London beginning January 3 and administer Covid tests to all incoming passengers.
The last flight from London to Kolkata before the ban is scheduled to arrive on Sunday. Passengers travelling from the United Kingdom were formerly obliged to take a Covid-19 test upon arrival.
