Kolkata: A case of beating to death of a BJP worker in West Bengal has come to light. The incident took place in east Midnapore district. An BJP worker was beaten to death late on Saturday night. The deceased BJP worker's name is Shambhu Maiti. He was a young BJP leader.

Shambhu was reportedly spotted injured by some persons near Kelegahai river near Nantu Pradhan College in Deria Dighi area on Sunday morning. They immediately handed over the letter to the police. Shambhu had bruises in his body. But as soon as he was taken to the hospital, doctors declared Shambhu dead. The family members of the deceased alleged that they were killed by Trinamool Congress reporters. However, the ruling party has denied the allegations.

Police said no arrests have been made in the case at present. But the police are investigating the case thoroughly and the culprits will be arrested soon. In October itself, another BJP leader was killed in West Bengal. A young BJP leader Mithun Ghosh was shot dead in front of his house in Rajgram village by some unidentified criminals at Itahar in North Dinajpur district. The BJP had alleged that anti-social elements of the Trinamool Congress were behind the murder. However, the Trinamool Congress had denied the allegation.
