Kolkata: State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had promised 10,000 rupees per year to the farmers in the run up to the West Bengal assembly elections. The state cabinet meeting led by Mamata Banerjee at the State Secretariat Naban today sealed the proposal to provide 10,000 rupees per year to farmers under the Kisan Bandhu Scheme. At present, under this scheme, the farmers used to get Rs.5000 per year. At the same time, those who have less than one acre of land. 4000 will be given to them. Earlier, they were given two thousand rupees.

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Home Minister Amit Shah, Mamata Banerjee was accused of obstructing farmers and the Central government for not getting the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi to the farmers due to the assembly elections. Prime Minister Modi had promised that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana would be given to farmers when the BJP government is formed in Bengal.

As promised in the election, the farmers of the country as well as the annadatas of Bengal have started receiving the amount of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme this time. Under this scheme, the Government transfers Rs.2000 to the accounts of the donors. A total of Rs.6000 is transferred to the account through three instalments in a year. The farmers of Bengal have received the first instalment after the Assembly elections. After that, Mamata Banerjee had claimed that BJP leaders had promised Rs.18,000 to the farmers, but only Rs.2,000 has been given.
