Kolkata: All eyes are on West Bengal today as it is going to be known who will be the next chief? On the other hand, the Election Commission is ensuring that health rules and social distancing are strictly followed due to the second wave of the covid-19 epidemic during counting. A total of 108 counting centres have been put in place today for three-tier security arrangements. EVM machines and voter-verifiable paper audit trail have been kept in strong rooms all over the place amid tight security. At least 292 observers and 256 companies of Central Security Forces have been deployed at counting centres spread over a total of 23 districts.

With this, polling for 294 seats of West Bengal Vidhan Bhabha has been held in eight phases between 27th March and 29th April. South 24 Parganas have the highest number of 15 counting centres, while Kalipamong, Alipurduar and Jhargram have been set up one each. The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8 am today. In view of this, security forces have been deployed outside a counting centre in East Midnapore. You must know that the Nandigram assembly seat is the most high profile seat in West Bengal.

Suvendu is from the BJP side and is directly pitted against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. Since 2011, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been in the fray from Nandigram for a third time, though no one knows what is going to happen. Now, amidst all this, Sovandev Chattopadhyay (TMC candidate) has given a serious complaint. Recently, he said, "When he came to the counting centre, he found the strong room open.'' Not only that, he has complained to the RO about it and said that "it is illegal to open a strong room before counting.''
