Kolkata: Reports of violence are emerging in West Bengal amid the fourth phase of polling. In Behar, violent clashes broke out between BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers today. Four persons were killed in the firing. Earlier, a youth was shot dead in Behar when he arrived to cast his first vote.

According to media reports, central security forces allegedly opened fire in Behar district on Saturday after some locals tried to snatch the rifle. Four people have died in the incident. A senior police official said the incident took place in the Sheetalkuchi area where polling is being held for the fourth phase. He added, "According to preliminary reports, CISF personnel opened fire after the attack in a village. Four people were killed in it.''

He further said, "There were a clash and locals surrounded the security forces. An attempt was made to snatch rifles after which central forces opened fire.'' In Bengal, 44 assembly seats are going for votes in the fourth phase of elections, the results of this election will be released on May 2 along with all the states.
