Hooghly: Paramjit Singh, a resident of Shahganj in West Bengal's Hooghly district, who has worked abroad, is in trouble. Paramjeet's family members allege that his passport has been confiscated and he is unable to return to his homeland. Paramjeet's daughter has urged the Central government to bring back her father.

Paramjit went to Saudi Arabia in the month of February 2016 through a company called New Alpha International in Delhi. Paramjeet's daughter says she went to Saudi for driving work on a 2-year contract. The contract expired in 2018, but Paramjeet could not return home as he heard that his passport was withheld by the company (the Saudi company that had Paramjit's passport) and stopped receiving the money. Because of that, they are no longer able to send money even at home.

Paramjit's family lives in a rented house near The Gurudwara in Shahganj where his wife Sarabjit, daughter Kiran and son Maha Singh live together. Paramjeet, who worked at a private institution in Dankuni and later went to Saudi Arabia to earn a little more money to strengthen the family financially, he approached the Delhi-based institution because he felt it was more in two years. By earning more money, you will come back to your family, but that has not happened.
