Kolkata: A lockdown has also been announced in West Bengal as corona epidemic cases are on the rise. Chief Secretary Alpan Bandyopadhyay has issued orders in this regard. According to it, Bengal will have a lockdown from May 16 to May 30. Only essential services will continue during this period. Private offices, schools and colleges will all remain closed. Fruit and vegetable and ration shops will also be open from 7 am to 10 am.

According to the order issued, lockdown will remain in force in the state from May 16 to May 30 i.e. for 15 days. In the meantime, only essential services will be exempted. From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., people will be banned from leaving. All government and private offices (except essential services), schools, colleges will remain closed. At the same time, political, cultural and religious activities will be banned. All industries and factories except essential services have been ordered to be closed.

According to the order, movement of all trucks except trucks or goods vehicles engaged in essential services will be restricted. Apart from emergency, private cars, taxis, autos will not ply. At the same time, local trains, metro service, bus service, train service will remain closed. However, fruit and vegetable, ration, milk shops will open from 7 am to 10 am. Also instructions have been issued to keep sweet shops open till 5 pm.
