Kolkata: A tragic accident has been reported in West Bengal's capital Kolkata where two people, including a 12-year-old child, were killed in a fire at a building. The incident occurred in a five-story residential building at Ganesh Chandra Avenue in Kolkata. The fire department staff worked hard to evacuate the people out of the house, but two people died.
West Bengal Fire Minister Sujit Bose has informed that the building has been evacuated and the situation is fully under control. After a sudden fire, people started fleeing here and there. The death toll includes an elderly woman beside a 12-year-old boy. An official said that the boy was very scared, and that is why he jumped from the third floor and died.
He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead after a while of treatment. The woman's body was recovered from a bathroom located in the building itself. Two more people injured due to the fire in the building have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The Kolkata Fire Department says the fire broke out on the first floor of the building, which gradually spread and killed 2 people. Some people started rushing towards the stairs. However, officials claim that the fire was stopped at the moment.
