Kolkata: A 20-year-old girl from Dum Dum Road area of Kolkata, West Bengal, has alleged that a young man raped her for 5 years by pretending to get married. The woman is accused of having severed all ties with him earlier this year and married her sister on Sunday. The Synthi police has registered a case of rape and cheating. The name of the mother of the accused has been included in the FIR. The victim says that she was also threatened by the mother of the accused.
Two Dalit young men brutally beaten on charges of theft
According to the FIR, the victim alleged that between 2015 and early 2020, the accused befriended the victim. After the duo nearly arrived, the accused allegedly pressured her to have a physical relationship at her home. At other places also, the accused made sexual relations by convincing the young woman to get married. The accused also assaulted her several times for refusing to have a physical relationship.
Mother shocked seeing her son doing this in his room, called police
The FIR states that when the victim pressurized the accused to marry, he and his mother allegedly assaulted her and threatened her of dire consequences. The accused then severed all ties with the victim and married her sister last Sunday. Police said they have called the accused for questioning. A senior police officer has said, 'We will investigate the matter in depth and record the statements of family members on both sides. The statement of the victim's sister will also be important."
