West Bengal: NIA seized bomb-making material, plan to stifle several states

Kolkata: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered hand grenades, 1 timer device, 3 electric circuits and IED bomb blast material from Soldavanhalli in Bengaluru on the basis of the statement of Habibur Rahman, accused of burdwan bomb blast. The recovery was made by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on July 7.

The explosives and hand grenades recovered were being planned to explode in different states. Habibur Rahman is a member of the Jamaat-ul-MujaHindian terror outfit and is the main accused in the Burdwan bombing. Habibur Rahman was detained by the NIA from Bengaluru on June 25. Habibur Rahman had been absconding since the bombing and had also committed robbery at a bank in Bengaluru in 2018 to collect funds for the terror outfit.

Habibur Rahman was a confidant of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen terrorist Zahidul Islam alias Kausar and was a member of the Bolpur module in West Bengal. Habibur has also been involved in all the training of JMB. The Burdwan blast took place in a house on October 2, 2014, killing two people. Initially, the matter was investigated by the state government, but as soon as the name of Bangladesh's terrorist organization came up behind it, the investigation was handed over to the NIA. Investigations revealed that they were all from Bangladesh terrorist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen and were making IEds inside the house and smuggled into Bangladesh.
