Kolkata: An incident of shame to humanity has come to light in West Bengal. In Jalpaiguri, a tribal woman was brutally beaten up for having an extramarital affair. The woman was stripped after being beaten up and then paraded all over the village. A video of the incident went viral. After which police have arrested 7 accused.

According to sources, local residents tortured him on suspicion of having a 'Naziz relationship'. The accused had also tied her husband to a tree. Police came to know about the case when a video of the alleged incident went viral on social media. Police sources said some villagers alleged that the woman had a nazirelationship with a local youth. The villagers convened a meeting to discuss the matter. The alleged incident took place when the woman was returning home with her husband after attending the meeting.

According to media reports, some villagers surrounded the couple. They tied her husband to a tree and brutally thrashed the woman. Local media reported that they also cut the woman's hair to 'teach her a lesson'. Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police Devarshi Dutta told the media, "As soon as we received the complaint, FIR was registered. Seven people have been arrested." According to reports, the accused persons have been booked on charges related to assault and molestation.
