Kolkata: The debate about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has started once again in the country. The CAA issue has made its way into electoral issues following the statement of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda while addressing a public meeting on Monday in West Bengal. Assembly elections are due in Bengal next year.

Nadda while addressing a public meeting in the state said that CAA will be implemented as soon as possible. After which the ruling Trinamool Congress of Bengal has also hit back. TMC MP Mahua Moitra targeted the BJP by tweeting. Rejecting JP Nadda, Moitra wrote, "JP Nadda is saying that CAA will be implemented soon. So listen to BJP, we will show you the door before showing the paper".

JP Nadda also said in the statement that the implementation of CAA was delayed due to the lockdown, but now it will be implemented soon. JP Nadda blamed the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal and said that she was doing the politics of 'divide and rule' in the state for the political interests of her party TMC.
