These days, politics has been intensified over three agricultural bills passed in Loksabha. The opposition is sharply attacking the Modi government and protesting against the bills. It is very important to know what these bills are and what will be their impact on the farmers.

In fact, the opposition is accusing the issue that the government wants to end the APMC Act. So let's start with the point here:-

Around 1960-70, the Congress government in the country had a law public, called "APMC act". The Act allowed the farmer to sell his crop only in the place fixed by the government, i.e., the government mandi. According to the law, the farmer cannot sell his crop outside the Mandi. And the purchase of agricultural produce in this mandi could also be done by the trader who is registered in the Act. These registered persons are called "commission agent" in common language.

Now, new bills will bring the following changes-

1. Now the farmer can sell his crop inside the mandi, but he has also been allowed to sell the crop outside the Mandi.
2. Now the farmer's produce can be purchased by any person who has pan card.
3. Now, if the crop is sold outside the mandi, the state government cannot charge any tax from the farmer.
4. Now the farmer can sell his produce to any person in a state.
5. At the same time, the farmer will now be able to make contract farming, i.e., the farmer will be able to sell the crop at a pre-determined price.

Now let us see the things that are being contested:-

-Is the government eliminating the Mandis?
According to the bill, the government did not finish the Mandis. The Mandi will remain, but now the farmer has given an option that if he gets the right price, he can sell his crop anywhere. Even in mandi and outside mandi.

-Is the government abolishing MSP?
According to the bill, the MSP is not ending. The grains which came under it earlier will still come under it.

-Is the government benefiting the capitalists?
According to the bill, the farmer will decide the buyer of his produce, irrespective of whom he sold and the price at which he sold.
