Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised China, Brazil, and India as key allies who are genuinely interested in helping to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at the 9th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Putin emphasized that these nations are among Russia’s trusted friends and partners in this effort.

During the plenary session, Putin stated, “We hold our friends and partners in high regard, and I believe they are sincerely committed to addressing and resolving the conflict. This includes the People's Republic of China, Brazil, and India.” He added that he maintains regular communication with the leaders of these countries, expressing confidence in their mutual trust and the potential for collaborative efforts toward peace.

Putin’s remarks follow a recent visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Moscow for a bilateral summit. During the visit, Modi underscored that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for resolving the conflict and offered India’s support in contributing to peace in Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova also acknowledged India’s efforts, noting that Russia values Prime Minister Modi’s initiative towards achieving a peaceful resolution.

Regarding the peace negotiations, Putin revealed that Russia has always been open to talks with Ukraine. However, he claimed that a potential peace deal was disrupted by Western intervention. Putin criticized former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson for allegedly instructing Ukraine to continue fighting, which, according to Putin, has prevented a resolution and led to a prolonged conflict.
