In a recent development, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) from India has commented on the ongoing tensions between Iran and Pakistan. The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, emphasized that the issue is a bilateral matter between Iran and Pakistan. The MEA reiterated India's strong stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism and acknowledged the actions countries may take in self-defense.

On Tuesday, Tehran carried out an unprecedented missile and drone attack on alleged terrorist bases of a Sunni militant group in Pakistan's Balochistan province. In response, Pakistan issued a stern warning to Iran, recalling its ambassador and suspending planned high-level bilateral visits. Additionally, a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards was reportedly shot dead in the Balochistan region.

Initially, Iranian state-run media reported precision missile and drone strikes targeting two strongholds of the Sunni terrorist group Jaish al-Adl (known as Jaish al-Dhulm in Iran). Tehran claimed the strikes were aimed at groups responsible for attacks on Iranian territory. However, Pakistan rejected this explanation, condemning the airstrike as an unprovoked violation of its airspace and warning of potential retaliation.

Pakistan confirmed the attack, stating that two children were killed, and three others were injured in the strikes. Tehran has repeatedly expressed concerns that Jaish al-Adl is using Pakistani soil to launch attacks on Iranian security forces. Jaish al-Adl, established in 2012, is a Sunni militant group mainly operating in Pakistan. While Iran has confronted militants in border areas before, a missile and drone attack on Pakistan is unprecedented.

According to the US Director of National Intelligence, Jaish al-Adl is the most active and influential Sunni militant group in Sistan-Baluchestan. Last month, 11 Iranian police officers were killed in an attack in Sistan-Balochistan, with Iranian authorities blaming Jaish al-Adl. The group has been linked to previous incidents, including attacks on Iranian border guards, further escalating tensions in the region.
