Good Friday is remembered as the day of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and death.  This year’s Good Friday falls  on April 7, 2023. It is the Friday preceding Easter Sunday. Good Friday is a meditational day of Holy Week, which starts on Palm Sunday and concludes on Easter Sunday. Good Friday commemorates Christ’s crucifixion and death. On this day, Christians across the  world member Christ’s atonement for their sins.

What is Good Friday? - For all Christians, including Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, and Methodists, it is a sombre day of reflection. The day of Good Friday, which always falls on the Friday before Easter, changes from year to year.
On Good Friday, many Christians observe prayer and some even fast. The Stations of the Cross and other devotions are performed on Good Friday in the Roman Catholic religion.

What does Good Friday represent? -  preparation for Easter Sunday, Christians observe Good Friday as a day to remember Jesus' suffering and death. It acts as a reminder of Christ's ultimate offering for atoning for humanity's transgressions.

What does "Good Friday" mean? - The title "Good Friday" may mislead non-Christians because many people think it is a holiday. Yet today is a day of reflection and grief. If a day commemorating the crucifixion does not seem particularly "good," then why is it called Good Friday? The name's origins are still a mystery. However, some linguists think that rather than the term's current meaning of "something positive," which is "good," the name derives from an earlier usage of the word that meant "holy."

Why is Good Friday celebrated? - Good Friday marks the start of the end of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. The "Triduum," also known as the "Three Days," are the last three days of Holy Week and are dedicated to remembering Jesus' trial, death, and resurrection. The Triduum lasts from Holy Thursday, also known as "Maundy Thursday," which is the day before Good Friday, through the evening of Easter Sunday.

Good Friday is a sad day set aside for repentance and remembering Christ's suffering. But Christians can celebrate the resurrection on Easter Sunday because of the melancholy of Good Friday.

That's why this day is called Palm Sunday.
