What will changed name of serum's 'covishield'? Bombay High Court gives big decision

Mumbai:  The war against Corona is going on in the country, where the vaccine is being used as the biggest weapon. The Kovishield vaccine of the Serum Institute of India (SII) is playing an important role in this battle. Constant vaccine manufacture is going on from the company and emphasis is being laid on supply in large numbers. But now the covshield vaccine of the serum is mired in a trademark dispute. The vaccine is given a ruckus on the given name 'Kovishield'.

A petition was filed in the Bombay High Court on behalf of pharmaceutical company Cutis Biotech. The petition said his company had sought a trademark for the name 'Covishield' only in April last year and an application was also written in this regard. The company wanted to use this name for its Ayurvedic and some other medical products. But the Bombay high court has now given a big relief to the SII in the case. The court has made it clear that serum does not need to rename its vaccine.

The order says that if the serum institute is not allowed to use the name covishield, it may affect the vaccination drive in the country and create confusion among the people. It has also been clearly stated by the court that covicshield is currently a vaccine used against corona in the eyes of the people in the country. Changing the same name is not going to benefit anyone. Some statistics have also shown that the serum institute's footfall is overwhelming.
