WhatsApp has released its Monthly Compliance Report under its new IT policy in which the company reported that it has received 345 grievance reports between May 15 and June 15 and banned 2 million accounts i.e. Let me tell you that under the new IT policy, digital platforms with more than 50 million users are asked to issue compliance reports every month. It is under this that WhatsApp has shared the report.

WhatsApp released the report and wrote that our main goal is to prevent large-scale sending harmful or unwanted messages. We maintain the advanced capability to identify these accounts sending high or abnormal rates of messages and have banned 20 lakh accounts that have tried this way from 15th May to 15th June in India alone.

The same company has also confirmed that more than 95 percent of such bans are due to the unauthorized use of automated or bulk messaging (SPAM). We expect to publish post-report versions after 30-45 days of reporting period so that adequate time can be obtained for data collection and validation, WhatsApp reported. The Facebook-owned company said that the number of restricted accounts has increased substantially since 2019 as the sophistication of the system has increased, and so we are holding more accounts because we feel that more efforts are being made to send bulk or automatic messages.
