For your information, the UPI based WhatsApp Pay service will be delivered to 400 million users. The government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have expressed concern over some features of WhatsApp Pay in following the rules.

In its statement, it had earlier said that to follow RBI instructions, the company had created local-systems to store payment data. But after this, in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the RBI had said that WhatsApp Pay has to follow its data localization rules. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that if the company fulfills the regulatory rules of RBI and National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), then it will get India In which WhatsApp Pay will be allowed to start digital payment. If seen, between the direct competition with Google Pay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay and Paytm, the company has become very important to launch this service.
