New Delhi:- WhatsApp has started testing a feature that allows users to send high-quality videos on the popular messaging platform. The feature was spotted in the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android, and was introduced shortly after a similar feature that allowed users to send high-quality photos was released to beta testers.

The Meta-owned messaging service is also working on “Material You” themed notifications on Android while improving the display of profile pictures in group chats on iOS.

Feature tracker WABetaInfo has discovered that after updating to WhatsApp Beta 23.13.0.76 for iOS and WhatsApp Beta 2.23.14.10 for Android, users will be able to send high-quality videos. Videos shared on WhatsApp are now compressed to optimize network performance, but at the cost of video quality. According to the report, when attaching a video, the user can choose from two video quality options.

According to the feature tracker, when a user shares a video, the preview window will show an "HD" button. After tapping the button, a pop-up message will appear asking if you want to send the video in standard or HD quality. The app also informs users that HD quality is sharper, but standard quality transmits faster and occupies less storage space on the smartphone.

Also, similar to the high-definition photo sharing feature, WhatsApp automatically sends standard-quality videos by default, but users must manually select the HD option if they want to send high-definition videos. Also notice that Videos and images sent in HD quality are indicated by a small HD icon in the media preview of the chat window.

WhatsApp for iOS and Android beta update channel users will be able to send HD videos and photos after updating to the latest version. However, as with all features the company is testing, there is no information on when it will be available to all users on the stable channel.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also improved the appearance of a user's profile his icon in groups on iOS. If a user has not set a profile picture, WhatsApp will display their initials instead, making it easier for users to identify participants in large groups. The messaging platform also introduces redesigned notifications with rounded corners in the latest Android beta. These Material You style tweaks will be available in a future update for users on the stable update channel.
