SAN FRANCISCO:  Meta-owned WhatsApp is developing a new function called "audio chats" that will be included in conversations in a later version of the Android app.

Users will be able to start audio talks using the symbol of a new wave that will be added to the chat header, and they will also notice a red button for cancelling active calls, according to WABetaInfo.

The research claims that it is likely that the area above the chat header could be set aside for showing audio waveforms because the waveform indicator denotes the potential for real-time audio visualisation.
Users will be able to view audio waveforms while browsing between their conversations thanks to the interface's simple design. Moreover, the report mentioned that there is not much information available about how this feature will work as it is still under development.

In the meantime, Meta has released a new WhatsApp client for Windows that loads quicker and has a user interface similar to the program's mobile version. Users can now arrange group audio calls and video calls for up to 32 participants each.

The tech behemoth has also included new features including link previews and stickers, as well as speedier device connection and better device syncing.
