Rahat Indori needs no introduction. He is one of the most renowned poet in India. He has written various poems. Today he is celebrating his birthday. On his birthday have a look on his interesting journey.

Rahat was born on 1 January 1950 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Therefore he adds Indore in his name. His father's name was Rafatullah Qureshi, who was an employee of a textile mill, and his mother's name was Maqbool Un Nisha Begum. He married twice. His wives name is Anjum Rahbar (1988–1993), Seema Rahat. His children's names are Son's name Faisal Rahat, Sutlej Rahat and his daughter's name is Shibli Irfan.

Rahat’s early education took place in Nutan School, Indore. He completed his graduation in 1973 from Islamia Karimia College, Indore and did his MA in Urdu Literature in 1975 from Barkat Ullah University, Bhopal. Thereafter, in 1985, obtained PhD degree in Urdu literature from Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Madhya Pradesh. Rahat Indori has also been a professor of Urdu literature at Devi Ahilya University, Indore. At the age of just 19, he started presenting poems. There are many admirers of his poetry not only in India but also in other countries.

Here is an interesting stories about Rahat Indori. Once Rahat met famous poet Jaan Nisar Akhtar during a Mushaira. It is said that while taking autographs, Rahat expressed his desire to become a poet. Akhtar sahab said that first you need to memorize 5000 poems, then you will automatically start writing your poetry. Rahat replied that he already knows 5000 poem.
