On-set Affair Led to Breakup

It is said that Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan's affair lasted for about five years. During the 1970s, they worked together in several films, starting with their first movie, "Do Anjaane," released in 1976. It was during the shooting of this film that Rekha and Amitabh grew very close to each other.

Amitabh and Rekha also worked together in the 1978 film "Ganga Ki Saugandh." During the shooting of this film in Jaipur in 1977, a man from the crowd made inappropriate comments about Rekha. Despite attempts to reason with him, when the man didn't stop, Big B intervened and physically assaulted him. In an interview with Filmfare magazine in 1984, Rekha denied her relationship with Amitabh without taking his name. She said, "Imagine I couldn't tell that person what I felt. I couldn't figure out what that person was going through."
