In those days, the BCCI did not have funds."

Lata Mangeshkar has a big heart: Salve has said, "When this offer was made to Lataji, she agreed to it. In such a situation, Lata Ji helped the BCCI in raising the funds, so that every player of the winning team was rewarded with a prize of Rs 1 lakh, which was not a small amount in those days."
