Exactly 34 years ago today was Tuesday, the day of June 10, 1986, when the then Indian captain was led by the captain Kapil Dev with his batting to give a historic victory to the Indian team, staring in front of the target of 136 runs at Lord's ground. It had won its first Test victory over Lord's only on June 10. In this match, Dilip Vengsarkar completed the hat-trick of centuries at Lord's by scoring an unbeaten 126 in the first innings. He became the first batsman in the world to score three consecutive centuries on this historic ground. Prior to this, he played 103 innings in 1979, and 157 runs in 1982 at this ground.

England was bowled out for 180 runs in the second innings and in this way, India got a target of 134 runs on the fifth and final day. India had won by scoring 136 runs for five wickets. The Kapil Dev-led team then won the second Test in Lords by a huge margin of 279 runs to win the series for the first time in England. The third and final Test match played in Birmingham was drawn.

India registered its second win at Lord's in July 2014 when they defeated England by 95 runs under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
